The Government of Tamil Nadu has provided health care at Namakkal, a town in Namakkal District through a District Hospital since 1952.
Presently the Government has decided to setup a new Medical College at Namakkal, as part of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme in Phase III utilizing the infrastructure facilities of the Government Head Quarters Hospital, Namakkal.
The Namakkal district is associated with the Chola Rule of Sangam Age, Pallava Rule and Nayak Kings. It has famous temples and Fort. Now, it is the major centre in the country for Egg Production, Broiler Production, Lorry Body Building, Rig-well Drilling
